Pick Me Up @ Somerset House

Hi Crayonettes!
Hope you're all well and enjoying the sunshine (while it lasts!)
The Rachels went to Somerset House at the weekend and had a nice day out in London town.

Myself (Rachel P) and Rachel L popped along to the Pick Me Up graphic art fair at Somerset House on Sunday to see all the lovely artwork and graphic design.

There lots of amazing artwork on display, the place is packed full of all kinds of image makers from typographers to animators, graphic designers and independent illustrators.  Definitely worth a visit.

One of our favourite illustrators Kate Moross made an appearance with her colourful prints, we love her work, its so bold

There was lots of hand made type and letterpress around as well which we loved - I took a picture of the letter R. For Rachel. :)

It was alot of fun, well worth it, we're full of inspiration for own little collective - maybe one day we'll be at Somerset House! I think Rach has some better photos she may share with us later.

Much love!

Edit: Hello, Rachel L here! I do indeed have some more photos, check it:

SoSolo Interview with Rachel L

Hey all! Hope you're having a lovely weekend! Last week I was interviewed by the awesome SoSolo blog, all about Tea & Crayons and how illustration collectives work.

If you don't know SoSolo, it's an online fashion boutique that sells exclusive women's clothing, vintage finds and collections from up and coming designers. Pretty awesome, we think.

So do pop over, check out the blog (it's worth subscribing, full of awesomeness) and see if you can resist the amazing goodies on offer on the site!

New Work from Rachel L: Osman LFW Illustrations for Amelia's Magazine

More LFW fashion illustrations! I think this is the last of us to post now. These were done for Osman's AW11 show, I really love the simplicity and bold colours of the collection.

Hope you like them!

Also just to let you all know that my website has had a bit of a redesign; take a look and tell me what you think!

A Tale To Tell :: Kayleigh Bluck

Hey guys! I was just posting over on my personal blog, when I thought that it might be something the lovely Crayonettes might like to hear about...

Yesterday my contribution to a fairly new collaborative project 'A Tale To Tell' went live. The project is hosted by Jamie Mills and Jane Richardson, and despite being in the early stages, it looks very promising so far.

"A Tale to Tell is an illustrated, collaborative storytelling project where each week a new illustrator/artist will be invited to submit the next part of the story, with a text entry and an illustration to accompany it.  Each artist responds to the story as it was left by the previous, taking the story wherever they wish and leaving it open for the next person to continue!  Creating an elaborate, imaginative tale from the minds of some of the most creative people around." *

*Taken from the 'about' section of the 'Tale To Tell' website

This is my illustration and contribution to the story:

Exhausted, Father Wolf fell to the floor. She Wolf however, could not give up so easily.
"We need help to get those secrets back - and fast" she proclaimed.
Sitting upright, she cried a high-pitched howl... "I beckon the birds!"

Be sure to check out the project live online as there are seven other fabulous contributions before mine. View 'A Tale To Tell' here. Thanks for reading guys, hope you like it.

New Work from Rachel L: Cooperative Designs LFW for Amelia's Magazine

More London Fashion Week illustrations! I think most of us did at least one illustration for Amelia's Mag this season; it's just such a good way of getting easy access to the catwalk images! Love it.

The first of my pieces to go up is this one, done for Cooperative Designs AW11 Presentation.

It's always a bit of a crazy one, illustrating for Amelia's Mag during Fashion Week, as most pieces have a 24 hour deadline. Luckily you end up getting pretty good at working fast!

More from me soon, when the other pieces I did go live...

Tea & Crayons in Compound Magazine

Morning everyone. Some exciting news today; a couple of us have had our work featured in issue 1 of Compound Magazine! It's not out on general internet release yet, but we've got a copy here you can download!

Click here to download Issue 1 of Compound Magazine - Chemistry.

The idea of Compound Magazine is it's like a visual mixtape - each artist picks a song that they think represents the theme of 'Chemistry' and creates a piece of art of written piece that reflects it. The finished magazine is great, everyone's interpretation of the theme is so different, and the people that have taken part are all so talented.

This is my piece, inspired by the song Rest My Chemistry by Interpol, which is about cocaine addiction.
This is Abby Wright's piece, based on Wet Wet Wet's Love is All Around. Aww :D
And this is Rachel Price's, based on Friend of the Night by Mogwai.

Do have a download and browse through, the work is stunning! Rachel L xx
